Hiking the Castle Rock loop

Although I have spent many weeks in McMurdo Station, this is the first time in three seasons that I have been in town on a Tuesday evening when the Outdoor Safety lecture is held. Attendance is mandatory (and checked) before leaving town for any of the more-significant recreational hikes. The lecture finishes quite late, and we're scheduled to fly to the South Pole first thing in the morning. Fortunately, outdoor recreation is a 24-hour activity during summer here, so we can still escape for a few hours. This photo was taken from the foot of Castle Rock just before midnight.
