On a rare day of shore leave, we washed up in a remote village on the island of New Britain. A few of the villagers speak English, but most only speak the native Tok Pisin. However, as you can see, all the kids have mastered "shaka". The village is only accessible by sea, and our rigid hull inflatable boat with twin outboards is the envy of those who recognise it. Several people here have dinghys with small outboards, but for them, the trip to the nearest port takes a full day. Photo courtesy of T.B.
