A three-phase variable frequency drive for permanent magnet motors, designed to operate in pressure-balanced oil-filled (PBOF) environments up to to 120MPa, and depth-rated for 11000m. There is no pressure housing, so every electronic component is subjected to the full ocean pressure. It was developed specifically for the Deepsea Challenger submersible - the first vehicle to use pressure-tolerant motor controllers at this power level. This controller is used to drive twelve thrusters and two hydraulic pumps on the vehicle.
